Actor Richard E Grant was eliminated from the BBC series The Celebrity Traitors during the latest episode, with fellow contestants voting him out. Grant received the majority of votes, including from both other traitors on the show, Maya Jama and James Acaster.
As Grant faced the group to reveal his role, he identified himself as “an unfaithful traitor,” expressing surprise that he had effectively orchestrated his own removal, a move he described as unprecedented. Earlier in the series, Grant had disclosed his status as a traitor to the other participants.
Following Grant’s departure, the remaining traitors chose to recruit mathematician and television presenter Hannah Fry as their new member, rather than eliminating another contestant. Fry accepted the invitation during the roundtable discussion, marking her transition from a faithful player to a traitor. Upon meeting her fellow traitors for the first time, Fry expressed enthusiasm about the new dynamic.
The Celebrity Traitors, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, features 21 well-known participants divided into two groups: faithful contestants aiming to identify the traitors, and the traitors who covertly "eliminate" players. The show’s debut episode, which aired last week, drew significant viewership, averaging 8.9 million viewers and peaking at 9.1 million, making it the most-watched premiere of any series in the UK.
This format combines elements of strategy and deception, as traitors work together to outmaneuver the faithful while maintaining their secrecy. The program continues to attract attention with its blend of competition and social intrigue.
