Florida State quarterback Ashton Daniels set a new school record with five rushing touchdowns as the Seminoles dominated Virginia 38-7 on Saturday in Tallahassee. Daniels ran 17 times for 136 yards and also completed 12 of 19 passes for 183 yards, although he threw one interception. The victory marked Florida State’s first win against a Power Four opponent in the 2026 season.
The Seminoles improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, largely thanks to a suffocating defensive effort that limited Virginia to just 37 rushing yards on 40 attempts. Prior to the game, the Cavaliers ranked fifth nationally in rushing offense, averaging nearly 193 yards per game on the ground.
Florida State’s defense recorded 10 sacks—an increase from the seven combined in their previous four games—with defensive end Rylan Kennedy leading the charge with two sacks, and linebacker Chris Jones contributing 1.5 sacks. The Cavaliers struggled offensively throughout the contest, punting seven times and failing to convert any of their four fourth-down attempts. Virginia managed only 205 yards of total offense, making it their poorest offensive output of the season.
Virginia’s only score came early in the first quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Beau Pribula to wide receiver Da’Shawn Martin. Pribula was under constant pressure from the Seminoles' defense and completed 14 of 32 passes for 168 yards.
On offense, Florida State amassed 464 total yards, with running back Ousmane Kromah carrying the ball 17 times for 80 yards. Kromah has now rushed for 80 or more yards in all five games this season.
The lopsided victory demonstrated Florida State’s ability to control the line of scrimmage and maintain offensive balance, while the defense effectively shut down a typically strong Virginia rushing attack. The Seminoles will look to build on this performance as they continue ACC play moving forward.
