The Ministry of Health’s Directorate-General of Khoula Hospital has entered into a funding agreement with Al Yusr Charity Foundation to establish an integrated pulmonary unit at the hospital. The agreement, valued at RO 560,000, was signed by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed al Alawi, Director-General of Khoula Hospital, and Omar bin Mohammed al Farsi, Director-General of Al Yusr Charity Foundation.

The new pulmonary unit is part of broader efforts within Oman’s health sector to promote sustainable healthcare aligned with the objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040. According to Dr. Rashid al Alawi, the project aims to enhance specialized medical services using advanced technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases, in accordance with international standards. The unit is expected to become operational in early 2027.

Dr. al Alawi emphasized that the integrated pulmonary unit will improve diagnostic precision, expedite treatment procedures, and reduce complications associated with respiratory conditions. He noted that the collaboration between the public health sector and Al Yusr Charity Foundation exemplifies cooperation between government and civil society institutions. This partnership is intended to strengthen national medical expertise, broaden access to specialized services, and improve the overall preparedness of Oman’s health system.

Omar al Farsi highlighted that the foundation’s involvement aligns with its commitment to supporting the health sector and fulfilling its social responsibility. He stated that the foundation’s initiative aims to advance medical services and address community health needs.

The upcoming unit will serve as a notable enhancement to Khoula Hospital’s specialized healthcare capabilities. It will offer a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating respiratory diseases within a single facility. The services will include microbronchoscopy, respiratory efficiency assessments, and the management of sleep disorders, providing patients with streamlined access to a range of pulmonary care services.
