A funeral director from Hull has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of defrauding numerous customers and misappropriating funds for personal use. Robert Bush, who operated Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, was convicted of a series of offences that included theft, fraud, and interference with the proper handling of remains.

Authorities determined that Bush exploited the trust of his clients on a large scale, using the money to finance holidays to Center Parcs and trips to Arizona, amounting to over £42,000 in undisclosed expenditures. Investigations revealed a pattern of misconduct involving multiple fraudulent funeral plans, including targeting vulnerable pensioners.

Among the charges, Bush was found responsible for mishandling ashes and obstructing the lawful and respectful burial of a deceased individual. Additionally, he was implicated in the theft of funds from charitable organizations, further compounding the gravity of his offences.
