Gainsborough Trinity recovered from an early deficit to secure a narrow victory against Emley AFC in a closely contested match. The game, played in challenging conditions, saw limited clear-cut opportunities during the first half.

Emley goalkeeper Ben Bottomley made a notable save early on, denying Gainsborough centre-back Harrison Beeden with a diving header following an incisive pass from Javelle Clarke. Meanwhile, Emley’s experienced striker Diego De Girolamo missed two promising chances but maintained pressure on the Gainsborough defense.

The hosts broke the deadlock shortly after the second half began, benefiting from the wind in their favor. Right-back Rinor Ejupi capitalized on a long ball down the right flank and lobbed the ball over Gainsborough’s goalkeeper David Robson to open the scoring within two minutes of the restart. Emley nearly doubled their lead when Charlie Barks headed towards goal, only for Bottomley to pull off a remarkable save before the ball struck the crossbar.

Gainsborough responded after the hour mark when Connor Brown was fouled by Barks, allowing substitute Frank Mulhern to convert a penalty and level the score. The visitors then completed the comeback 13 minutes from time. Jack Leckie’s shot was initially saved by Bottomley, but Beeden was quickest to the rebound, scoring his third goal in as many days and securing a 2-1 win for Gainsborough Trinity.
