KUWAIT CITY — Kuwaiti authorities have arrested five Asian nationals on charges of forging and illegally selling government stamps, officials announced on June 13. The arrests come as part of ongoing security operations led by the Criminal Investigation General Department within the Ministry of Interior’s Criminal Security Sector.
Investigations revealed that the suspects sold official government stamps, specifically those valued at KD5 and KD10, at prices below their face value to expatriates and businesses. This scheme was designed to generate unlawful profits through the distribution of counterfeit stamps. Authorities also found that forged stamps were being circulated both inside and around hospital premises.
During the search and arrest operations, law enforcement seized several items used in the forgery, including a laptop, a printer, and rolls of stamp paper. Further inquiry confirmed that the suspects had stolen these paper rolls from a hospital before using them in their counterfeit production.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects and that all confiscated materials were turned over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution. The ministry emphasized its commitment to continued enforcement efforts targeting those involved in the embezzlement of public funds and the falsification of official documents, issuing a stern warning that anyone found guilty will face legal consequences.
