Britain’s Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith, is hopeful that Jack Draper will recover in time to participate in the upcoming Davis Cup finals scheduled for November. Draper, a former world No. 4, has been sidelined by a bone bruise in his arm, an injury that forced him to miss this year’s US Open.

For the current qualifier against Ecuador, Smith has selected a squad featuring rookie Toby Samuel alongside Arthur Fery, Cameron Norrie, Henry Patten, and Lloyd Glasspool. Despite Draper’s absence at this stage, Smith expressed optimism about his potential return later in the tournament.

“Hopefully if we get through this one he can still be a part of it,” Smith said, emphasizing the significant boost Draper would provide to the team. “Clearly that would be a very strong addition into the team should we get to the finals. The door is totally open for him.”

Britain’s hopes rest on a combination of emerging talent and experienced players as they aim to advance through the qualifiers and compete in the finals later this year.
