The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its 29th meeting of Information Ministers in Manama, Bahrain, on Wednesday, with the Sultanate of Oman participating under the leadership of Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Oman's Minister of Information. The session took place as part of Bahrain’s presidency during the 46th GCC Supreme Council session.

During the meeting, the ministers emphasized the critical role that cohesion and solidarity among the GCC member states, their leaders, and their populations play in maintaining regional security and stability. They described unity within the GCC as a shared responsibility that has gained increased significance amid current geopolitical developments.

The ministers firmly rejected actions or rhetoric perceived as threats to GCC unity, as well as those that insult the member states, their symbols, or their citizens. They also stressed the necessity of heightened vigilance in monitoring violations conducted through media outlets and digital platforms. To that end, they called for the implementation of appropriate legal measures to hold offenders accountable in accordance with national laws and GCC regulations.

In addition, the ministers urged media organizations, journalists, and social media users within the region to fulfill their professional responsibilities by ensuring accuracy, sourcing information from official channels, and refraining from disseminating offensive or misleading content. They highlighted the importance of collective efforts to preserve the unity and strengthen the fraternal bonds underpinning the GCC states, thereby enhancing overall regional security and stability.
