Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs was represented by Acting Undersecretary Faisal Al-Kandari at the 12th meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministries of Social Affairs and Development, held virtually on Tuesday. The meeting focused on a range of social issues impacting GCC member states, including elderly care, disability rights, children’s welfare, women’s empowerment, and broader social protection measures.
Officials reviewed the progress of the Gulf Action Plan for 2026-2030, aimed at enhancing social welfare policies across the region. Discussions centered on strengthening collaboration and sharing expertise among member states to improve social service delivery and support for vulnerable populations.
A number of initiatives and proposals designed to advance social welfare systems were also examined, with an eye toward presenting them for formal adoption during the upcoming meeting of GCC ministers of social affairs and development. This ministerial gathering is scheduled for Thursday in Manama, Bahrain.
Al-Kandari emphasized Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to collective efforts within the GCC framework. He highlighted the importance of coordination among member states to promote the development of social services and improve the overall quality of life for citizens throughout the Gulf region.
