Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met with Olav Myklebust, Norway’s non-resident ambassador to Qatar, on October 5. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening the relationship between Norway and the GCC.
During the meeting, both officials explored opportunities to support and advance collaboration in various sectors of mutual interest. While specific areas of cooperation were not detailed, the conversation underscored a shared commitment to deepening ties between the GCC member states and Norway.
The visit took place in Qatar, highlighting the country’s role as a diplomatic hub within the region and its ongoing engagement with European partners. The meeting reflects continued efforts by both sides to bolster economic, political, and cultural relations at a strategic level.
As the Gulf region seeks to diversify its international partnerships, dialogue with European countries like Norway remains a key component of broader foreign policy objectives. The discussions with Ambassador Myklebust are part of sustained diplomatic outreach by the GCC to expand cooperation beyond the Gulf.
