The General Tax Authority (GTA) has rolled out a series of enhancements to its official website and the Dhareeba digital platform aimed at improving services for taxpayers. Central to the update is the launch of a new Knowledge Centre, designed to consolidate tax guides and relevant information, making it easier for users to access essential resources in one location.

Among the platform’s new features is an electronic calculator that helps eligible taxpayers compute capital gains tax and financial penalties through a guided, step-by-step process. This tool is intended to simplify complex calculations and improve accuracy when filing taxes.

The GTA also revised the Tax Agreements page to offer clearer information on tax treaties and the procedures tied to them. Updates include expanded content on transfer pricing guidelines and mutual agreement procedures, reflecting the authority’s commitment to transparency and compliance with international standards.

In addition, the Income Tax on Capital Gains page has been refreshed with enhanced guidance and frequently asked questions, aiming to provide taxpayers with a better understanding of applicable regulations.

These developments are part of the GTA’s broader digital transformation strategy to streamline tax administration and enhance user experience. Earlier this year, the authority received first place in the 2026 Government Services Redesign Challenge for its Excise Tax Product Registration service, which was developed following participation in innovation workshops.

In a related move to improve operational efficiency, the GTA collaborated with the General Authority of Customs in July to introduce integrated digital services that link the customs clearance system with the Dhareeba platform. The integration enables secure and automated data exchange, facilitating faster processing and reducing administrative burdens.

Collectively, these initiatives underscore the GTA’s efforts to modernize tax services through technology, supporting both compliance and service quality for taxpayers.
