George Alexander scored five goals as Farnham Town secured a commanding 6-0 victory over Braintree Town in a league match on Sunday. The result marked Braintree’s fifth consecutive league defeat, leaving them struggling to regain momentum.
The visitors fell behind early when Billy Clifford opened the scoring, volleying home from a cross by Brandon Mason. Farnham extended their lead to 2-0 within six minutes, with Alexander meeting debutant Marcel Lavinier’s cross to finish. Farnham maintained strong control of the match thereafter, with Bobby-Joe Taylor coming close to adding to the tally, his shot narrowly missing the target.
Despite their early dominance, Farnham did not find the net again until the 60th minute. Mason provided a key pass to Miles Obodo, who set up Alexander to score his third goal of the match. Alexander appeared to be on course for another goal shortly afterward, but Braintree goalkeeper Ben Hughes made a crucial save by blocking an effort from Taylor.
Alexander completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Trae Cook-Appiah was fouled in the box. He then quickly capitalised on a rebound to score a fourth goal. The striker’s fifth and final goal came late in the game courtesy of a cross from Cook-Appiah, who assisted the forward from the left flank.
Farnham’s comprehensive win highlighted their attacking strength and demonstrated the impact of recent signings, including Alexander, who joined from Hornchurch this month. Meanwhile, Braintree will be looking to address their defensive vulnerability as they seek to reverse their current run of poor results.
