Newmarket trainer George Scott is set to send five runners to compete in major races at Longchamp this weekend, aiming to build on last year’s first Group 1 success at the venue. Among the contenders is Bay City Roller, a four-year-old who has secured two top-level victories this year on soft ground and recently finished second to Arc favourite Daryz in a trial race at Longchamp.
Scott described Bay City Roller as an increasingly impressive competitor who tends to perform well in France, noting a preference for softer ground but expressing confidence in the horse’s prospects for the weekend. "He seems to be going from strength to strength, he’s a really admirable horse," Scott remarked.
In addition to Bay City Roller, Scott’s team includes Caballo De Mar, Wimbledon Hawkeye, Ridaro and Command The Stars. Caballo De Mar notably provided Scott with his first Group 1 win in the Prix du Cadran.
Reflecting on the significance of the upcoming races, Scott highlighted the unique excitement of competing in Paris and the quality of his horses. "These are the days we get up early in the morning the rest of the year for," he said. "Paris has been special for me and we’ve got a bunch of horses going there in really good shape and it’s just so exciting."
The stable’s presence at Longchamp underscores Scott’s continued ambition on the international stage as he seeks further success in France’s prestigious racing calendar.
