Georgia Voll’s unbeaten century propelled Australia to a nine-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the second One Day International (ODI) match at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field, securing a 2-0 series win. Voll, the Australian opener, scored 131 runs off 97 balls, marking her third ODI century in just 15 matches and setting the highest individual women’s ODI score recorded at the venue.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 220 for six, largely due to a resolute innings by Sobhana Mostary. The 24-year-old batter compiled 118 runs from 134 deliveries, displaying a blend of skill and resilience. She shared a record-breaking fourth-wicket partnership of 195 runs with captain Nigar Sultana, who remained unbeaten on 74 from 114 balls. This stand established the highest partnership ever for Bangladesh against Australia in women’s ODI cricket.

Mostary and Sultana came together when Bangladesh was struggling at eight runs for three wickets in the eighth over and reconstructed the innings with disciplined stroke play and tactical acumen. Mostary’s innings featured a mixture of boundaries through the offside and precise placement, including a fifty reached with a cut shot off Australian legspinner Alana King. Her 118 is now the highest score by a No. 5 batter against Australia in women’s ODI history and the highest individual score recorded by a Bangladesh player.

Despite the strong resistance from the visitors, Australia’s reply was swift and commanding. Voll opened alongside Phoebe Litchfield, who contributed a quick 70 off 51 balls, striking the ball with precision and freedom. The pair put on an opening partnership of 162 runs in just 119 deliveries, combining power hitting and creative shot-making to dismantle the Bangladesh bowling attack.

Voll showcased powerful bottom-hand strokes and played aggressively through the cover region whenever given width. Her performance not only eclipsed Mostary’s record for the highest individual score at Allan Border Field but also made her the first woman to register two ODI centuries at the ground, after scoring 101 against India earlier this year.

Reflecting on the partnership, Voll emphasized the importance of a strong start, crediting her style of power-hitting as central to setting the pace for the chase. “I love batting out there with Phoebe and to have a partnership and get the team off to a good start was the most important thing,” she said.

While Bangladesh achieved their highest team total against Australia with notable contributions from Mostary and Sultana, the effort fell short against a clinical Australian batting display. The series victory underscores Australia’s dominance in the contest and highlights Voll’s emergence as a key player in the team’s batting lineup.
