German authorities are investigating how a large hole was cut overnight into a fence surrounding Leipzig Airport. The damage was discovered late Saturday evening, according to reports from local police and emergency services.

Initial findings indicate that a vehicle may have driven through the fence along a publicly accessible road adjacent to the airport grounds. However, emergency teams conducting a search of the area afterward did not locate the vehicle or any individuals on site. It remains unclear whether any breach of airport security occurred as a result.

Leipzig Airport was previously targeted in August when a drone carrying explosives attempted an attack. German officials attributed that incident to Russian involvement, a claim that Moscow has denied.

Authorities have not confirmed if the recent fence damage is linked to the prior drone attack or if it was an unrelated event. The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the cut in the fence and whether it posed any threat to airport operations or security.
