Two German fighter jets intercepted a British Airways flight en route from Cyprus to the United Kingdom after the aircraft temporarily lost contact with air traffic control. The incident occurred on Saturday while flight BA-899 was traveling from Paphos to London Heathrow.

Passengers aboard the plane reported seeing the military jets alongside the aircraft as it passed through German airspace. One passenger, identified only as Jan, described how one of the jets, a Eurofighter Typhoon, flew near the plane for roughly 15 minutes before veering away to the left.

Despite the unexpected escort, the flight crew assured passengers that there were no issues with the aircraft. Shortly after the interception, communication with air traffic control was restored, and the flight proceeded without further incident.

British Airways confirmed it is investigating the circumstances that led to the loss of contact and the subsequent military response. German authorities had not immediately commented on the situation.
