Germany striker Deniz Undav has expressed optimism about a fresh start under the national team's new coach, Jurgen Klopp. Speaking at a VfB Stuttgart training camp in Bavaria, Undav said he anticipates "a boost" in the squad’s dynamics with Klopp’s appointment.

Klopp, who previously managed Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, took over the German national team following the resignation of Julian Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann stepped down after Germany's elimination in the round of 32 at the recent World Cup. Klopp’s initial fixtures as head coach will include four Nations League matches scheduled between September 24 and October 4, against the Netherlands, Serbia, and Greece (twice).

Undav, who made a notable impact at the World Cup as a substitute with three goals and two assists, acknowledged the competitive challenges under the new leadership. He highlighted the need for every player to earn their place anew, as Klopp may pursue a different lineup than his predecessor. “It could be that it will be a completely different line-up than under the previous national team coach,” Undav said. “So perform, which will then hopefully be appreciated so that I am invited.”

Reflecting on Germany’s World Cup exit, Undav revealed it took him about a week to come to terms with the disappointment. “You go over all sorts of scenarios in your head. Why, for what reason, how come. After a week I was able again to focus on my holiday,” he added.

As Germany prepares for the Nations League campaign, the arrival of Klopp marks a new chapter for the team, with players like Undav hoping to secure their place amid expected changes in tactics and selection.
