A 14-year-old girl reported missing in June was found dead with multiple stab wounds, an inquest has revealed. Lilly Jones was reported missing on June 20, and her body was discovered two days later near a bowls club in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina, Abertillery, south Wales. The club had been providing refreshments to search parties at the time of the discovery.

Senior coroner Caroline Saunders informed Gwent coroner’s court that a post-mortem examination concluded Lilly died from multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest. The coroner scheduled a provisional inquest hearing for April 6.

Separately, a 14-year-old boy, whose identity is legally protected, was charged with Lilly’s murder and appeared at Cardiff Crown Court last month. He remains in custody and is expected to stand trial in November.
