The Girl Scouts of the United States will introduce two new cookie varieties in January, including their first offering specifically designed for dogs. The blueberry muffin-flavored dog treats, named Patch Pals, were created in partnership with Bark, a New York-based company specializing in pet products. These cookies will be available exclusively through online sales.

Alongside Patch Pals, the Girl Scouts will launch Sparkables, the organization’s inaugural allergy-friendly cookie. This crunchy oatmeal cookie contains chocolate chips and sprinkles and was developed in collaboration with Partake Foods, a New Jersey-based company known for allergen-free products. Sparkables are produced in a facility free of nine major allergens such as eggs, dairy, peanuts, wheat, tree nuts, and sesame, ensuring safer consumption for individuals with food sensitivities. Like the dog cookies, Sparkables will be sold only online.

The Girl Scouts did not disclose the pricing for the new cookies. Traditionally, cookie prices fluctuate by region but averaged around US$6 to US$7 per box in this year’s campaign.

These additions to the cookie lineup were inspired by scouts who sought to make the cookie program more inclusive for both people with allergies and pet owners. The Girl Scouts have been selling cookies as a fundraising activity since 1917 and currently distribute approximately 200 million boxes annually.

While local sales periods may vary, the typical Girl Scout cookie season extends from January through April. The two new varieties will join established favorites such as Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs in the upcoming sales season.
