The Zoroastrian Association of Victoria Inc. (ZAV) hosted its annual Jamshedi Navroze celebration on April 10, drawing a full attendance that highlighted the vibrancy and cohesion of Victoria’s Zoroastrian community. The event, themed “Red Carpet Glam,” took place at a local venue, with guests arriving in formal attire that set an elegant tone for the evening.

Central to the celebration was a meticulously arranged Navroze table, designed by Nisha Mistry and Katy Ankleshwaria. The display, which included Iranian tapestry carpets donated by Vahishta Irani, symbolized themes of renewal, prosperity, and cultural heritage integral to the festival.

A spiritual component was incorporated early in the program with the Humbandagi ceremony, conducted by ZAV’s senior priest, Ervard Keki Madon. The Management Committee took the opportunity to honor Madon for his longstanding service to the community with a formal felicitation.

The evening’s proceedings were moderated by emcee Dilnaz Billimoria, whose role helped maintain engagement and flow throughout the event. Attendees enjoyed a diverse culinary offering prepared by caterer Mamaroti, which was noted as a particular highlight. Entertainment included music by DJ Taran, stimulating the dance floor, alongside an unplanned operatic performance by Kim Jin Sethna that added a distinctive artistic element to the night.

Additional activities featured raffle draws and competitions, including awards for Best Dressed and Best Dancer, further energizing the crowd and fostering participation.

The success of the event was attributed to the thorough planning and organization by the ZAV Management Committee, ensuring smooth execution and an enjoyable atmosphere. Overall, the Navroze gala underscored the community’s commitment to preserving tradition while embracing celebration and togetherness.
