Tickets for the 2027 Glastonbury Festival sold out within 45 minutes of the general sale opening on Sunday, festival organizers announced. The event, held at Worthy Farm in southwest England, is scheduled to run from June 23 to 27 next year. This follows a fallow year in 2026, during which no festival was held.
Standard tickets for the event were priced at £408 (approximately $539). While the lineup for the 2027 festival has yet to be announced, organizers confirmed that the recently reunited Britpop band Oasis will not be performing, ending months of speculation regarding their participation.
Since its inception in 1970 and inspired by British counterculture, Glastonbury has evolved into a major fixture on the international music calendar. Initially a platform for legendary British rock acts, the festival has increasingly showcased global pop stars alongside established artists. Recent performers have included Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo.
The festival stirred controversy in 2025 when Irish rappers Kneecap and London-based duo Bob Vylan expressed support for Palestinians in Gaza during their performances. Police reviewed the artists’ remarks but took no formal action. Bob Vylan’s frontman, Bobby Vylan, led chants critical of the Israeli army, drawing scrutiny of the BBC’s live broadcast.
The 2025 edition of Glastonbury attracted approximately 210,000 attendees and featured performances by Neil Young, Rod Stewart, Raye, The Prodigy, Alanis Morissette, and Snow Patrol. Notably, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi returned emotionally to the Pyramid Stage after stopping a previous set due to struggles with Tourette syndrome.
With high ticket demand continuing despite rising prices and ongoing controversies, Glastonbury remains a significant event for music fans worldwide. Organizers now prepare to reveal further details about the 2027 lineup in the coming months.
