Golden Ace is set to make her return in the Listed Panoramic Hurdle at Carlisle on Saturday, following the race’s relocation from Kempton. Trainer Jeremy Scott cautioned that the mare will likely need the run to regain her form.

Golden Ace, who defied expectations with a 22-1 victory in last season’s Fighting Fifth Hurdle, has struggled to replicate that success in subsequent races. After her surprise win, she failed to place in four consecutive outings, including a fifth-place finish in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Panoramic Hurdle presents a step down in class, offering Golden Ace a chance to rebuild confidence. However, the field includes experienced contenders such as Wilful and Rubaud, the latter aiming for a fourth win in this event. Scott described the situation as hopeful but cautious.

Scott noted that Golden Ace has yet to compete on grass this autumn and referenced a less-than-ideal performance at Wetherby last year, when the mare was found to have a dirty scope. “We have tried to change things around with her this year,” he said. “Hopefully we start off on the right note and then we can look at going back to Newcastle.”

Regarding track conditions, Scott expressed a preference for softer ground but indicated that the current forecast looks favorable. “We don’t want quick ground but the clerk said it should be on the easy side of good,” he added.

The Panoramic Hurdle is scheduled to begin at 4:12 p.m. at Carlisle, where Golden Ace will look to build momentum for the remainder of the season.
