Google Cloud and Accenture have announced a new collaboration aimed at accelerating the deployment of generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for enterprise clients. The partnership introduces the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group, a specialized unit focused on helping customers implement Google Cloud’s agentic AI platform, Gemini Enterprise.
Under this initiative, Google Cloud will contribute to training up to 1,000 Accenture forward-deployed engineers (FDEs), who will work directly on-site with clients to design and develop AI applications leveraging the Gemini Enterprise platform. These FDEs, embedded within client organizations, will be supported by a team of industry specialists, process analysts, and data experts drawn from Accenture. Additionally, select Google Cloud FDEs will participate in limited engagements with key customers to provide further technical support.
Thomas Kurian, chief executive of Google Cloud, emphasized the importance of having experts embedded within customer organizations to ensure successful AI implementation. “There’s a need for experts who can go and do these [things] for customers,” he said, highlighting the rationale behind forming the new group.
Accenture, which has previously deployed FDEs organized into multi-disciplinary pods across client sites, will leverage these experienced personnel in the new business group. These teams typically collaborate not only with internal IT departments but also with functional leaders such as chief financial officers, reflecting a growing trend toward AI solutions that span organizational silos.
Accenture CEO Julie Sweet noted that many clients are seeking clear value from AI technologies but often face challenges in realizing tangible benefits. “Clients want clear value and they’re stuck,” she said, pointing to the demand for more practical, hands-on assistance during AI adoption.
The launch of the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group occurs amid intensifying competition among technology companies to expedite enterprise AI integration. This approach of embedding technologists within customer environments—initially popularized by firms like Palantir—has gained traction as a method to help organizations achieve meaningful returns on their AI investments.
In this context, Google Cloud and Accenture’s collaboration represents a strategic effort to respond to market pressures by providing a comprehensive package of expertise, training, and on-site support to advance AI deployment across various industries.
