Google has introduced the Pixel Watch 5, its latest smartwatch model featuring enhanced health and safety capabilities aimed at providing users with comprehensive monitoring and emergency support. The new device includes alerts for elevated blood pressure and insulin resistance, marking an expansion of its health tracking functions.
One of the notable safety features of the Pixel Watch 5 is its ability to automatically call for help if it detects breathing difficulties or a decrease in blood oxygen levels. According to Google, it is currently the only smartwatch on the market capable of automatically dialing emergency services in response to a sudden loss of pulse. The watch also incorporates automatic fall detection and can sense car accidents, similar to other leading wearables.
In addition to these emergency features, the Pixel Watch 5 tracks sleep patterns and daily physical activity. It also offers personalized coaching through Google’s Gemini Assistant, designed to help users maintain and improve their overall fitness and wellbeing.
The device comes with improvements to battery life, offering up to 40 hours of use on a single charge. It is designed for durability, featuring a bright display, full water resistance, and scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass.
Available for purchase now, the Pixel Watch 5 comes in two sizes and four color options: Polished Silver, Champagne Gold, Satin Pyrite, and Matte Black. Pricing starts at £369.
