Google has introduced the Pixel Watch 5, its latest smartwatch model featuring enhanced health and safety capabilities. The new device includes advanced sensors that can monitor users for elevated blood pressure and insulin resistance, expanding the range of health metrics typically tracked by wearables.
A notable feature of the Pixel Watch 5 is its ability to detect critical health emergencies, including breathing difficulties and drops in blood oxygen levels. Google has highlighted that this model is currently the only smartwatch on the market capable of automatically calling emergency services if it senses a sudden loss of pulse. Additionally, the device can detect falls and car accidents, enabling it to summon help in potentially life-threatening situations.
Beyond emergency functions, the Pixel Watch 5 offers standard fitness and wellness tracking such as sleep monitoring and daily activity logging. It also provides personalised coaching and guidance through Google’s Gemini Assistant, designed to help users manage their health goals more effectively.
Battery performance has been improved, with the watch supporting up to 40 hours of use on a single charge. The device features a bright, clear display protected by scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and has full water resistance, catering to durability and usability in various conditions.
The Pixel Watch 5 is available immediately in two sizes and four finish options: Polished Silver, Champagne Gold, Satin Pyrite, and Matte Black. Pricing starts at £369.
