The Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (Gord) has introduced a suite of artificial intelligence-driven platforms aimed at advancing corporate sustainability across multiple sectors. The new tools focus on enhancing indoor air quality, reducing emissions in cement production, assessing corporate environmental performance, and automating sustainability reporting.

Gord’s founding chairman, Dr. Yousef Alhorr, described the expansion as a strategic move to deliver intelligent, data-centric solutions beyond traditional building environments. The organisation’s latest offerings include Comlada, Cemento AI, Mat-Index, and Sustaino AI, each designed to assist organizations in meeting net-zero targets and broader sustainability objectives.

Comlada is an advanced system for continuous real-time indoor air quality monitoring, capable of tracking up to 20 different parameters such as formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds. The platform combines configurable sensors with intelligent networking and cloud-based dashboards, enabling facility managers to gain actionable insights for improving indoor environments and occupant health. It also aligns with international green and healthy building standards, including Gord’s own Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).

The industrial sector is addressed through Cemento AI, a tool that applies physics-informed artificial intelligence and thermodynamic modeling to optimize cement manufacturing. Given that this industry accounts for approximately 7% to 8% of global carbon emissions, the platform targets significant emission reductions. Cemento AI improves process control by integrating data from production lines to reduce material and fuel usage while monitoring clinker quality and carbon dioxide emissions. The system also supports carbon credit tracking and enables manufacturers to simulate operational changes like fuel switching within a controlled environment, thereby balancing efficiency with environmental performance.

For corporate sustainability assessment and benchmarking, Gord has developed Mat-Index, or the ESG Business Maturity Index. This platform allows organizations of all sizes—from microbusinesses to large enterprises—to evaluate their sustainability efforts against 33 thematic areas using 99 assessment questions. It tracks progress across six maturity levels and generates prioritized recommendations for improvement. Additionally, Mat-Index recognizes organizational achievements with Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond ratings, providing a structured pathway to enhance environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.

Overall, Gord’s new AI-powered solutions signify a shift toward integrated, intelligent climate action tools designed to help diverse sectors achieve measurable sustainability gains through data-driven insights and automated reporting.
