Gordon Murray Automotive has introduced a limited-edition reinterpretation of the iconic McLaren F1 supercar, reaffirming the vehicle’s status in automotive history. The new model, named the S1, is a contemporary tribute developed by the company’s Special Vehicles division and draws direct inspiration from the original McLaren F1 designed by Gordon Murray in the 1990s.
The S1 is planned as a limited production run, with only 64 units to be manufactured. Distinguishing itself from the more aggressive S1 LM variant, the new version is designed with a greater emphasis on touring comfort. It retains a modified iteration of the LM’s chassis, which has been recalibrated to improve ride quality and driver experience. Visually, the S1 departs from the LM’s track-focused appearance by removing elements such as the rear wing, front splitter, and side skirts, resulting in a cleaner and more understated design.
Additionally, the S1 features redesigned headlights that incorporate a running lights configuration reminiscent of the original McLaren F1. The manufacturer has indicated that further details regarding pricing and availability for the United Kingdom market will be announced in due course.
The launch of the S1 continues Gordon Murray Automotive's legacy of blending advanced engineering with a nod to the heritage of groundbreaking supercars, aiming to offer an exclusive and refined driving experience for collectors and enthusiasts.
