Gorleston secured a 3-2 victory over AFC Sudbury in a closely contested Division 1 North match on Sunday. The Greens established early control with a strong attacking performance in the first half, as Spencer Keller, Aaron Bullent, and Luke Johnson each scored, giving Gorleston a 3-0 lead heading into the break.
AFC Sudbury, however, mounted a determined second-half response. They were handed hope before halftime when an own goal reduced the deficit to 3-1 in the 35th minute. Early in the second half, Reuben Chinnery further narrowed the gap for Sudbury with a well-executed free kick in the 63rd minute, making the score 3-2.
Despite Sudbury’s efforts to close out the match, Gorleston held firm defensively over the final 30 minutes to preserve their advantage and claim the three points. Luke Johnson’s overall contribution stood out as a key factor in Gorleston’s win, highlighted by his goal during the initial surge.
The result allowed Gorleston to maintain momentum in their league campaign, while Sudbury’s late resurgence demonstrated resilience despite ultimately falling short.
