Graeme Lee has been appointed as the new manager of Whitby Town, taking over the National League North Premier Seasiders following the resignation of Lee Bullock last week due to ill health. Lee, 48, is widely recognized for his extensive Football League career, having made over 470 appearances for clubs including Hartlepool United, Sheffield Wednesday, Doncaster Rovers, Bradford City, Notts County, and Darlington.

Lee’s managerial experience includes roles with Middlesbrough’s Under-23 team, Hartlepool United, Marske United, and most recently Spennymoor Town, where he managed until February 2026. He expressed pride in continuing a family tradition, as his father, Tony Lee, was a notable figure in the Non-League scene and previously managed Whitby Town early in his coaching career. “It’s a club that’s been part of my family for many, many years and I’m very honoured to be taking on this role,” Lee said.

Since taking charge at Whitby Town’s home ground, the Turnbull Stadium, Lee has spoken optimistically about the challenges ahead. He highlighted the importance of discipline, organization, and attention to detail in the team’s approach going forward. “It’s a club that I’ve always thought fondly of,” he said, noting productive discussions with club CEO Graeme Hinchliffe and chairman Ivor Homer. “It’s going to be a challenge but it’s something I’m looking forward to. You have to have that belief and back your players.”

Lee’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Whitby Town as they aim to solidify their standing in the league amid competitive pressures. His blend of professional playing experience and prior management roles is seen by the club’s leadership as an asset in pursuing future success. The club and supporters alike will be watching to see how Lee’s vision translates into performance on the pitch as he embarks on this new chapter.
