A 29-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of a rail assistant on the Elizabeth Line in London. The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, when Ayodele Jamgbadi reportedly became agitated after missing a train and kicked an advertising frame. Jorge Ortega, 61, a grandfather and rail assistant, along with two colleagues, approached Jamgbadi to address the disturbance.

According to court testimony, Jamgbadi struck Ortega in the face with a single punch, causing him to fall and hit his head. Ortega was taken to hospital unconscious and died two days later. Following his arrest, Jamgbadi admitted to police that he had punched Ortega.

At a hearing at Inner London Crown Court, Judge Benedict Kelleher informed the jury that Jamgbadi is currently unfit to plead due to mental health reasons and is receiving treatment in hospital. The trial is ongoing.
