Owned by Wathnan Racing, Gregory secured a notable return to form after a lengthy absence of 476 days, having made only one appearance in 2023 prior to his recent performances.

The son of Golden Horn, who previously won the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot in 2023, impressed with an 11-length victory over Goblet Of Fire at York in June, illustrating his readiness for the two-mile challenge at Ascot. Trainer Thady Gosden expressed confidence in Gregory’s prospects, noting the horse’s preference for fast ground and favorable weather conditions ahead of the race.

In related middle-distance racing news, Joseph O’Brien signaled that Thundering On, the winner of the Curragh’s Blandford Stakes 12 days ago, is positioned as a 7-1 third favorite for Europe’s middle-distance championship. Defending champion Daryz leads the betting at 7-4. O’Brien acknowledged that drier weather expected in Paris before the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe might affect Thundering On’s performance, as the filly tends to perform best on ground slightly softer than good.

O’Brien also revealed that no final decision has been made regarding Thundering On’s participation in the European middle-distance event. The horse’s connections are considering awaiting British Champions Day later in the season, especially since she has the option to compete in the Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot, scheduled 13 days after the Arc.

Additionally, jockey Saffie Osborne has received a license to ride in Hong Kong during the upcoming winter season. She will join fellow European riders Dylan Browne McMonagle, Rossa Ryan, and Maxime Guyon in the former British colony’s racing circuit.
