A woman in Derby who lost her husband nearly two years ago was mistakenly sent police bodycam footage showing his body hanging in a wooded area. Leah Clarke, 25, received the video from a police legal adviser on March 10, shortly before the inquest into the death of her husband, Ollie Clarke, 29, who died in Bournemouth 26 months earlier.

The footage depicted officers discovering Ollie Clarke’s body after he had called Leah, allegedly threatening suicide. Leah described the video as deeply distressing and said she could not look away as it started with the officers in the woods approaching the scene.

The day following the accidental email, a message was sent to Leah apologizing for the error. The email acknowledged that the footage had been shared inappropriately, noting, “It should not have happened. I make no excuse for it.” The incident has caused further trauma for Leah, who is now pursuing legal action against Dorset Police.

Dorset Police declined to comment on the matter, citing the ongoing legal claim. An inquest jury previously delivered a narrative verdict, highlighting that there had been missed opportunities to intervene and potentially save Ollie Clarke’s life.

The case remains under careful scrutiny as the family seeks accountability for both Ollie Clarke’s death and the handling of sensitive material related to the investigation.
