Back-to-school preparations in North Texas will be supported by a free giveaway event organized by Dream Center Dallas on August 1. Beginning at 10 a.m., the nonprofit will distribute at least 1,500 backpacks stocked with school supplies and shoes at its headquarters located at 1900 S. Ewing Ave. Items will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Kacie Kintz, director of Dream Center Dallas, said the event is designed to help children start the school year equipped with necessary materials and a sense of support. In addition to the supplies distribution, attendees can enjoy games, food, and family-friendly activities throughout the event.

Dream Center Dallas encourages community involvement through volunteering and donations to support their ongoing efforts. The event offers local families a valuable resource ahead of the upcoming school year.

In addition to this giveaway, Texas families can also benefit from the state's annual sales tax holiday scheduled for August 7. During this weekend, qualifying purchases of clothing, school supplies, and other items under $100 are exempt from state sales tax, providing further financial relief for students and parents preparing for the school year.
