India’s Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued detailed guidelines for Class 12 students residing in the UAE and six other Middle Eastern countries who wish to participate in a special examination scheduled for 2026. The exam was introduced to accommodate students whose original Class 12 exams could not be held earlier this year due to regional conflict.
The directive, released on September 21, covers students in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Both regular and private candidates must register online through the CBSE’s official website to appear for one or more subjects in the special exam. Registration opened on September 20 and is set to close on September 26.
Students are required to fill out the List of Candidates (LOC) form, providing key details from their previous examination documents, including their original roll number, examination centre number, mother’s name as listed on their Admit Card, and the year of the main examination — 2026. Prior to registration, students are advised to have their Admit Card and Marks Statement ready to accurately submit the required information.
The registration process is conducted entirely online. After accessing the special exam registration link under the “Special Exam” tab on the CBSE website (www.cbse.nic.in), candidates must enter a personal email address to receive a one-time password (OTP) for verification purposes. Once verified, students can select the subjects they wish to take, with the ability to choose multiple subjects.
Upon completion and submission of the form, candidates receive an Application Number displayed on a confirmation page, which they are instructed to save for future reference. CBSE has also noted that marks earned in the special examination will replace previously awarded marks for the corresponding subjects.
This initiative seeks to provide affected students in the region a fair opportunity to complete their Class 12 education despite earlier disruptions. By setting a clear registration deadline and supplying a user guide, the CBSE aims to facilitate a smooth process for candidates across the participating countries.
