Gulf Bank has completed its annual Summer Internship Program for university students, held from August 9 to August 27, 2026, in collaboration with Injaz. The initiative is part of the bank’s broader effort to nurture national talent, enhance workforce readiness, and provide students with hands-on experience in the banking industry.

Over the three-week program, participants rotated through various key departments, including Treasury, Risk Management, Retail Banking, Customer Service, Marketing, and Corporate Communications. This rotational structure allowed students to gain comprehensive exposure to both customer-facing operations and the strategic functions of a modern financial institution.

The internship went beyond traditional observational learning by introducing students to core concepts such as financial markets, risk assessment, customer experience, retail banking offerings, marketing strategies, corporate communications, and the impact of digital channels on customer interactions. Through these activities, students acquired practical skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, and professional decision-making. The program also facilitated a deeper understanding of how different banking functions collaborate to meet customer needs and contribute to the broader economy.

A key objective of the program was to help participants link their academic knowledge with real-world business challenges, thereby preparing them for the labor market with heightened confidence and professional awareness. The experience also enabled students to explore potential career paths within the financial sector and identify the skills necessary for success in the workplace.

In addition to talent development, Gulf Bank emphasized the importance of gaining insights from younger generations through the internship. University students offered valuable perspectives on how young customers engage with brands, technology, financial services, and digital platforms. Their feedback is expected to inform the bank’s ongoing enhancement of youth-focused products, communication strategies, and digital experiences, ensuring that Gulf Bank remains responsive to evolving customer expectations.

The program underscores the growing influence of younger generations on the future of banking, particularly regarding demands for simplicity, speed, personalization, and improved digital accessibility. By engaging with young people early, Gulf Bank aims to foster innovation and strengthen customer-centric approaches across its operations.

Looking ahead, the Summer Internship Program aligns with long-term goals to develop a robust national talent pipeline and bridge the gap between academic education and workforce needs. By equipping Kuwaiti students with relevant skills and practical exposure to the private sector, the initiative supports the country’s economic diversification and sustainable growth strategies. Gulf Bank’s partnership with Injaz reflects a shared commitment to preparing youth for future employment challenges and encouraging their active contribution to the banking industry’s evolution.
