Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on Saturday during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The two leaders discussed the state of GCC-UN relations and explored potential avenues to enhance collaboration on issues of mutual concern.

During the meeting, both Al-Budaiwi and Guterres strongly condemned recent attacks by Iran-backed Houthi forces targeting Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the significant risks these actions pose to regional stability and the safety of civilian populations. The officials underscored the importance of addressing such security challenges to maintain peace across the Gulf region.

Guterres also praised the Gulf states for their remarkable economic progress and their active role in fostering global stability. The secretary-general acknowledged the GCC's contributions to development and security initiatives within the international community.

The discussions highlighted the ongoing commitment of both the GCC and the UN to deepen cooperation on political, economic, and security matters. This meeting forms part of a broader dialogue during the UN General Assembly’s annual gathering, where international leaders engage on pressing global issues.

Separately, within Saudi Arabia, cultural and educational events continue to engage local communities. Recent activities include a cooking workshop in Riyadh, a rural weekend getaway in Abha, chess lessons in Madinah, and an interactive Survival Journey experience in Dhahran, showcasing efforts to promote social and recreational development across the kingdom.
