Mumbai authorities are investigating an attempted shooting targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff on October 18, following weeks of surveillance on several high-profile film stars’ residences. According to law enforcement sources, the assailants arrived in the city about a month prior to the incident and reportedly scouted the homes of actors Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar in search of potential targets with relatively lighter security.
The suspects are said to have used auto-rickshaws to move between locations, posing as fans interested in taking photographs of the celebrities’ homes. Multiple drivers transported them to various addresses linked to Bollywood personalities, including those of Bachchan and Kumar. Investigators believe the group was tasked with identifying individuals whose security measures made them vulnerable, but it remains unclear whether other stars were specifically targeted apart from Shroff.
A key development in the probe focuses on a tip provided by an auto-rickshaw driver about Shroff’s routine visits to a football ground in Juhu. Acting on this information, the suspects visited the venue on October 11 but did not encounter the actor that day. They returned a week later armed with firearms and allegedly opened fire on Shroff’s car as he exited the area. While the actor was unharmed, two others sustained injuries in the attack.
Police are actively searching for two firearms believed to have been used during the shooting, which the suspects reportedly abandoned while fleeing Mumbai. Sources noted one weapon was imported, and the other was domestically manufactured, although officials have yet to confirm which was which. Recovering the firearms is a priority for investigators seeking to corroborate their involvement.
Additional inquiries have revealed that another group from Haryana also visited Mumbai around the same period and conducted surveillance activities before returning to their home state. Authorities are examining links between the groups and any larger conspiracy behind the attack.
Following the shooting, three suspects were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, and brought to Mumbai for questioning. Separately, four individuals—including two women—were taken into custody in Delhi and Haryana in connection with an alleged weapons supply network. Investigators continue to probe who selected Shroff as the target, the means through which the firearms were obtained, and whether other prominent film industry figures face ongoing threats.
