Authorities have arrested a man accused of deliberately colliding with a woman motorcyclist on a main road in Gurugram, India, and have subsequently added an attempted murder charge to the case. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, September 13, on Golf Course Road, a busy commercial area of the city.

Gurugram Police took cognizance of the case after a video of the collision went viral on social media. Following an analysis of CCTV footage, Kalyan Bainsla was apprehended in Dausa, Rajasthan. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to attempted murder and carries a penalty of up to ten years’ imprisonment, was introduced as part of the investigation. The case was registered at the Sector-56 Police Station in Gurugram.

The injured motorcyclist, identified as Sia from Kalkaji, South Delhi, recounted the incident to police and media. Accompanied by other riders, she said she was targeted by a car that repeatedly approached her from behind, with its occupants making gestures and eventually striking her motorcycle after cutting across lanes. Sia alleged that the car’s occupants appeared intoxicated and were deliberately threatening her.

“At first, the car sped past me at high speed at the underpass, then slowed down to draw closer. It was when they pulled up alongside and rolled down the window that I realized something was wrong. They started moving the car closer, gesturing for me to stop. I was terrified. Their faces showed they were drunk, and the vehicle had fully blacked-out windows,” Sia told reporters.

She described the collision as intentional rather than accidental.

The police visited Sia’s residence to record her statement as part of the ongoing investigation. Sector 56 Station House Officer Manoj Kumar confirmed the registration of the FIR and the addition of new sections to the case.

Bainsla’s legal representative, Naveen Bainsla, denied allegations that his client deliberately struck the motorcyclist or was under the influence of alcohol. The lawyer contended that the collision was an outcome of reckless driving and speed. He further claimed that the group of bikers, including Sia, had been engaging in risky behavior such as racing, performing stunts, and provoking motorists.

Investigations remain ongoing as authorities examine all aspects of the case, which has drawn public attention due to the violent nature of the incident captured on video.
