Bayer Leverkusen secured a 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig on Sunday, marking their second win of the Bundesliga season. The match unfolded in Berlin, where defender Miguel Gutierrez played a pivotal role, assisting a goal and scoring one himself.

Gutierrez, the 25-year-old Spanish left-back, set up the first goal for Czech forward Patrik Schick just before halftime. Schick converted the chance, bringing his season total to four goals in as many games. Shortly after the break, Gutierrez added to Leverkusen's lead by scoring in the 57th minute, effectively sealing the win.

Leverkusen’s success propelled them to fifth place in the Bundesliga standings. Meanwhile, Leipzig suffered their second defeat of the campaign and dropped to ninth position. Both teams now face an extended break due to the upcoming international window, with Leverkusen scheduled to play their next league match against Mainz on October 10.

Commenting on his form, Schick expressed confidence in front of goal, stating he could have scored multiple times in the match. He also acknowledged the timing of the international break, implying it comes just as he is hitting peak form.

Elsewhere in the league, newly promoted Elversberg held Schalke to a goalless draw, while Paderborn notched their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim. On Saturday, Borussia Dortmund moved to the top of the table after Maximilian Beier’s 70th-minute goal secured a 1-0 win against Stuttgart.
