Following the success of this initial operation, GWC Group secured a second, larger contract — the largest frozen bulk vessel operation the company has managed to date. This milestone led to a long-term cold storage agreement, expanding its role from vessel handling to ongoing storage and regional distribution.

In addition to sea freight operations, GWC Group has also begun road transportation of frozen poultry products from Barka, Oman, to Qatar and Kuwait. This expansion has increased the company’s combined volume of frozen cargo handled, stored, and distributed across the GCC to over 1,000 truckloads.

The growth in Oman's operations aligns with GWC Group’s broader regional expansion. The company’s international business has seen its net revenue contribution triple over the past two years as it enhances its presence in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, and Bahrain. Haitham al-Rawahi, general manager of GWC Oman operations, emphasized the challenges of maintaining strict temperature control throughout the frozen bulk vessel handling process. He credited the operation’s success to the company’s specialized assets and technical expertise.

Supporting these cross-border cold chain activities is GWC Group’s extensive logistics network, which spans the GCC and connects to a global freight system covering more than 120 countries through over 550 partner companies. The group operates over four million square meters of logistics infrastructure, maintains a fleet of more than 1,600 specialized vehicles, and manages 20 strategic locations throughout the GCC, collectively moving over two million tonnes of freight annually.
