The 19-year-old delivered a strong performance that saw her finish ahead of England’s Abi Martin and Shantae-Eve Amankwaah, who took silver and bronze respectively. Evans, a world championship silver medallist, described her victory as a culmination of determination and resilience, noting that recent frustrations motivated her to perform at her best.

In bowls competition, Torquay’s Sam Tolchard claimed gold in the men’s singles event, marking his first Commonwealth gold medal after multiple attempts. The 37-year-old dedicated his win to his late father, recalling the support he received during his upbringing. Tolchard’s victory mirrored that of his sister Sophie, who won gold in the 2014 Games. In the women’s pairs, the English duo of Amy Pharaoh and Sian Honnor won gold with a 1.5 to 0.5 victory over Malaysia.
