Trainer Aidan O’Brien’s colt Haffner is favored to win the Royal Lodge Stakes, a £125,000 race scheduled for 1:55 p.m. at Newmarket. The son of prominent American sire Justify has demonstrated consistent form throughout the current season.

Haffner began his campaign with a promising second-place finish at the Curragh in June. He secured his first victory shortly thereafter, breaking his maiden status over seven furlongs on Newmarket’s July Course. Following this, he stepped up to Group 2 level in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood, where he finished a strong second, overcoming difficulties with the camber on the track.

Building on this performance, Haffner recorded an impressive win in the Acomb Stakes at York last month. However, his recent outing in the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh proved less successful, as he was well beaten on ground described as somewhat heavy. It is notable that regular jockey Ryan Moore, who was absent for that race, returns to ride Haffner, a factor considered favorable for his prospects.

The main contender against Haffner in the Royal Lodge Stakes appears to be First Law, who recently claimed victory at Haydock. Despite this, confidence remains high that Haffner can maintain his strong form and prevail in the upcoming race.
