Sam Hain’s unbeaten 142 propelled Warwickshire toward the County Championship title as they closed day two of their final match with a 192-run lead over Leicestershire at Edgbaston. Warwickshire bowled out Leicestershire for 125 in the first innings, securing six bonus points, and responded with a total of 372.

Leicestershire resumed their second innings at 55 for three wickets, facing the prospect of relegation, though their fate remains pending an appeal against a 27-point deduction. Warwickshire requires at least 14 points from the match to secure the championship.

Elsewhere, Somerset's chances of clinching the title have diminished significantly despite their ongoing match against Surrey at Taunton. Surrey posted 422 all out, with Dan Lawrence contributing 139 runs before falling. In reply, Somerset reached 222 for three wickets, thanks in part to an unbeaten century from Tom Lammonby.

In international cricket news, England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has been ruled out of the upcoming One Day International series decider against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury. Dan Lawrence has been named as his replacement.
