Nearly half of British adults say they align their clothing choices with the colour scheme of their homes, according to a recent survey of 2,000 adults. The research found that 49% of respondents have a preferred colour palette that influences both their wardrobe and interior decor.

The survey also revealed that 51% of those polled consider coordinating their clothing and home decoration important for their overall happiness. About one in four participants noted that celebrities who integrate their personal style into their living spaces inspired them. Among such figures cited were television presenter Rochelle Humes, known for her modern and neutral home aesthetic; interior designer Kelly Hoppen, associated with calming taupes and creams; and cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch, whose interiors often feature grey and silver tones.

The research was commissioned by the Harlequin Watford shopping centre and conducted by OnePoll.com. Representatives from Harlequin Watford noted the longstanding connection between fashion and interior design, observing that many individuals extend their personal style beyond their wardrobe into their homes.

The survey also indicated seasonal trends, with approximately one in six respondents planning to refresh both their clothing and home decor for autumn. These individuals have allocated an average budget of £820 for their seasonal updates. More than 25% aim to colour-coordinate their attire with autumnal tones as part of the makeover.

Participants cited three main motivations for their annual refreshes: a desire to treat themselves, the appeal of a seasonal reset, and the goal of creating a more cohesive look between their surroundings and personal style.
