Sales of half-pints have experienced a notable increase as consumers adjust their spending amid the ongoing cost of living crisis, according to recent transaction data. Over the past year, half-pint sales on Wednesdays have risen by 27 percent, with Mondays and Tuesdays also showing significant growth of 23 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

The surge is largely driven by after-work pubgoers, with the highest demand occurring between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. London leads the country in smaller serving purchases, accounting for nearly half of all half-pint sales nationwide.

Despite the rising popularity of half-pints, sales of full pints have not declined. Although the average price of a pint has increased to £5.91 from £5.47 in 2024, consumers continue to purchase full servings alongside the smaller options.

The trend reflects a broader effort by drinkers to manage expenses while maintaining their social routines, as the economic challenges prompt more cost-conscious choices in hospitality spending.
