The halftime interval during the World Cup final on Sunday is expected to extend beyond the usual 15 minutes to accommodate the event's first-ever halftime show, according to media reports. While the exact duration has not been confirmed, estimates indicate the break could last between 20 and 30 minutes.

Performers announced for the show include Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, and K-Pop group BTS. FIFA, the sport’s global governing body, has not provided specific details on the timing or length of the performance. Under the rules established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), halftime breaks are generally limited to 15 minutes, with any extensions subject to the referee's approval.

The final will take place at the East Rutherford, New Jersey stadium and will feature a retrospective segment highlighting the 48-team tournament held across the United States, Mexico, and Canada since June 11.

In a related announcement, FIFA revealed that the World Cup trophy will be carried onto the field in a specially designed case created by luxury brand Louis Vuitton. The French company has furnished custom trophy trunks for previous World Cups in 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022. The company described the case as an “official bespoke trophy trunk” intended to both protect and showcase the iconic sports trophy during the final.

The decision to feature an extended halftime show and the ongoing partnership with Louis Vuitton has sparked some criticism among fans on social media, with complaints centering on the increasing commercialization of the tournament.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed that U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to present the trophy following the final match.
