Hamzah Sheeraz claimed the vacant WBO super-middleweight world title with a decisive two-round victory over Alem Begic in a bout held near the Egyptian Pyramids in Giza. The Ilford native, who moved up to the 168-pound division last year, dominated from the outset, quickly imposing his aggressive style to overwhelm the 39-year-old German challenger.

Sheeraz opened the fight controlling the distance with his jab, which he effectively converted into powerful hooks and combinations. A critical moment came late in the second round when a well-placed left hook to the body forced Begic to the canvas. Begic was unable to rise before the referee’s ten count, ending the contest emphatically. After the match, Sheeraz attributed his success to his game plan, noting that he expected his opponent to adopt a defensive approach, which he countered by maintaining pressure and dictating the pace.

On the same card, Jack Catterall of Chorley secured the WBA ‘regular’ welterweight title by defeating Shakhram Giyasov of Uzbekistan via points decision. The 32-year-old Catterall impressed early with a knockdown in the opening round and maintained control throughout the fight. The victory positions Catterall for a future title shot against the division’s full champion, American Rolly Romero.

The event highlighted Sheeraz’s rapid rise within the super-middleweight ranks and marked a significant milestone in his career, while Catterall’s win further established him as a contender in the welterweight division.
