Hanley Town secured a late victory over Shifnal Town in a Northern Premier League West clash, coming from behind to win 2-1 on Saturday.
Shifnal took the lead in the 15th minute when Callum Wilson capitalized on a scramble in the penalty area to put the hosts ahead. Despite Hanley having opportunities, including a notable long-range attempt from Kyle Stubbs that was comfortably saved by Shifnal goalkeeper Andy Wycherley, the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
The match shifted dramatically in the 75th minute when Shifnal’s Andre Landell received a straight red card, reducing the home side to ten men. Hanley’s manager Scott Dundas responded by introducing Kieran Brown as a substitute. Brown made an immediate impact, scoring within three minutes to equalize the match.
The decisive moment came during stoppage time when Lewis Porter, the league’s top goalscorer with 14 goals this season, found the net to secure the 2-1 victory for Hanley Town. The result continued Hanley’s push up the Northern Premier League West standings.
