TFE Hotels has expanded its Collection series with the opening of its first Melbourne property, Hannah St Hotel, located at 19 Walker Street adjacent to the King Street overpass. The new hotel occupies the base of a recently completed apartment tower just minutes from Southbank, the central business district, and major cultural venues.

Designed by Melbourne-based David Flack, the hotel occupies a distinctive triangular site inspired by iconic architecture such as Manhattan’s Flatiron Building and the nearby elevated roadway. The building’s geometry is accentuated by rounded corner points along Hannah Street. Flack also curated the hotel’s interior design, incorporating customized furniture and commissioned artworks throughout the property, including a bold installation of pink blocks and mirrors by artist Justene Williams at the entrance.

Hannah St Hotel offers 188 guestrooms across 27 different styles, ranging from standard rooms to two premium suites named Melbourne and Hannah, the latter featuring a kitchen. The midrange Corner Outlook Suite provides panoramic views of landmarks including the West Gate Bridge, Bolte Bridge, Yarra River, and Melbourne Exhibition Centre. Rooms combine modern design elements with comfort, showcasing rich navy tones, bespoke furnishings, and luxury bathroom amenities from Malin+Goetz. The minibar includes local Victorian wines, Champagne, and artisanal snacks.

Dining is centered on Coupette Corner Bistro & Bar, which overlooks the busy Queensbridge Street. The menu emphasizes seasonal and regionally inspired dishes, including foie gras with date puree, Fraser Island crab salad, steak frites paired with Montpellier butter and mustards, and king dory with sugarloaf cabbage and clam tartare. Desserts such as tiramisu and crème brûlée offer lighter takes on traditional recipes. The wine selection blends European and Victorian labels, with options served by the glass or half-carafe at reasonable prices. Breakfast is served à la carte, featuring items like a blue swimmer crab omelette and a nutrient-dense Green Goodness Bowl.

Amenities include a wellness center shared with the apartment residents on the ninth floor, equipped with a 20-meter indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and gym. The hotel also organizes a weekly early morning running group departing from its coffee window near the restaurant. While the lobby bar and rooftop terrace lounge were temporarily closed during initial visits, the terrace has since reopened, providing an outdoor setting for cocktails and small bites, with locally inspired drinks such as the Aspen Spritz.

Additional conveniences include valet parking, e-bike rentals for urban exploration, and a co-working lounge featuring a podcast studio adjacent to Coupette. The hotel also offers subtle scent branding created by local perfumer The Raconteur, available for purchase at reception.

Rates at Hannah St Hotel start at approximately AUD 279 per night, with Corner Outlook Suites priced from AUD 479 and the top-tier suites at around AUD 1,000. The property aims to blend art, design, and comfort, positioning itself as a contemporary urban destination in Melbourne’s evolving hospitality landscape.
