Harborough Town secured a 1-0 victory over Southport at the Beehive on Saturday, courtesy of an early goal from Riley O’Sullivan. O’Sullivan’s strike came in the eighth minute after a well-worked sequence involving a throw-in by George Carline and a flick-on by Alex Morris, which unsettled the Southport defense and allowed O’Sullivan to finish with precision.

Southport, managed by newly appointed Mark Duffy, nearly responded immediately. Adam Moseley outpaced Carline and delivered a pass to Ted Lavelle, whose resulting shot was comfortably saved by Harborough’s goalkeeper Elliot Taylor. Despite this early chance, the visitors struggled to create significant threats throughout the match.

Harborough maintained the upper hand, with contributions from Arlott-John and Michael Jacobs, the latter forcing a save from Southport goalkeeper Douglass Lukjanciks with a free kick. The remainder of the first half and much of the second period saw limited action, with few clear opportunities for either side.

Substitute Tom Peers came close for Southport late in the game, having a snapshot blocked just ahead of the goal line. At the other end, Harborough’s Josh Castiglione also had attempts on goal, including a free kick that striking the post. Notably, Harborough striker Ruben Butt, watched by his father, former Manchester United player Nicky Butt, was involved in several attacking moves but was unable to add to the scoreline.

Despite a late surge from Southport following another goal by Moore, the visitors were unable to break down Harborough’s defense and secure an equalizer. The Bees ultimately held on for the win, extending their strong home form under new management.
